DoD Adopts Open Content Formats and BYOD

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) is using public apps in both Android and iOS app stores to support BYOD policies, and open learning content. The project, spearheaded by Joint Knowledge Online, uses HTML5 to allow multiple vendors to deploy content to the same apps.

“This is not simply about embracing the newest technology – it is about keeping the department’s workforce relevant in an era when information accessibility and cyber security play a critical role in mission success,” says DOD Chief Information Officer Teri Takai.
